Trimming a Candle Wick
Trimming the wick of a candle is another very simple way to help make sure your candles last long and burn even. Follow these steps to ensure a better candle experience:
- Never trim a new candles wick
- Light the candle and let it burn for about an hour.
- Blow out the candle and let cool for a few minutes - until the wax sets up.
- With a small pair of scissors or nail clippers, cut the wick so that it is about 1/4 inch or slightly more tall.
- Be careful not to trim to much, or the wick may become covered over by wax and drown.
- Repeat this process every 2 or three hours of burning
A proper size wick will control the flame better and result in a longer lasting more even burning candle.
